Happy Birthday Bug! |
I can't believe I'm the mommy of a 1 year old, time has flown by!!! Poor little guy is still nervous around too many people, so we decided to keep things simple this year. Everything went well until we sang
Happy Birthday and then Jimmy had a meltdown. I didn't think we sounded that bad, but luckily he calmed down soon after we stopped. We thought he'd attack the cupcake his grandma made for him, but sadly he wasn't very interested...until we put Cheerios on it and even then he only wanted a couple bites. It's okay though, we'll have plenty more birthdays to celebrate with all of our friends and family.
I made a photo album of Jimmy's first year and it's amazing how much he's changed. He was so little and dependent on us and now he's walking, babbling like crazy and content to do his own thing most days. Things have changed so much in the past year and I feel so blessed for every second of it. Sometimes I forget how much we went through to have Jimmy and now I'm already 21 weeks pregnant with our second child!

19 weeks and counting. |
Things are going very well with Baby #2. We had a
Fetal Anatomy Survey done a couple weeks ago and everything is perfect. My doctor said that all of my blood work came back as well and everything was normal, so to my surprise, I won't have to deal with
Non-Stress Test's this time! I enjoyed my time with the nurses that ran my NST's while I was pregnant with Jimmy and still visit them when I'm at the hospital, but it was a relief to know that everything is going so well this time that they won't be necessary. I thought I had to have them done last time because of my JRA, but my OB said it was also because Jimmy was at risk for low birth weight, a concern we don't have with this baby. My OB seems less worried about my JRA this time too since it never affected my last pregnancy, so he has trusted me to deal with it on my own and just keep him updated if I make any changes to my medication, etc. I was hoping I would be able to stop taking Prednisone by now, but it hasn't worked out that way. Being pregnant this time of year has been great, no hot flashes, but it's been harder on my JRA. The constant change in weather, hot one day and cold the next has played havoc with my joints. I feel great most days and then BOOM, I feel like I've been hit by a bus! So for now, Prednisone and I are still friends...hoping to change that soon though.
The baby has been kicking a lot lately, so the reality of having two kids is really starting to set in. Sometimes it scares me and then I remember how petrified I was about having one baby. I was so scared that I wouldn't be able to take care of him, carry him and just get through the day because of my JRA...but a year later, all is well. Granted, I have a lot of help, but we've made it. Jimmy's a happy, healthy little man and I have no doubt that Baby #2 will be just as amazing.
SO excited for you!! Congratulations! ~;o)
