Happy to announce we had a healthy baby girl yesterday, March 12th at 9:28pm! Ruby weighed in at 7lbs and measured 19 inches long. So far she's a more petite looking version of her older brother and seems to have the same temperament.
She was breach when we started the surgery and it took some time to get her out. Her first leg came out without trouble, but her other leg was stuck and the doctor struggled for a few to get it out. Even after the doctor pulled her second leg out, she still held on and unfortunately swallowed some amniotic fluid on the way out. It was nerve wracking not hearing her cry for what seemed like a long time. The Pediatric nurse gave her a little bit of oxygen, wiggled her around, suctioned out her mouth & finally the cries started in! The nurse took her to NICU for about an hour to make sure he suctioned all of the fluid out properly and that everything else was flowing as it should and now she is doing great!
So far she's very mellow and has even been able to latch on and have a little bite to eat! Hopefully all of that continues to improve, but for now we're going with the flow and enjoying every minute of it.
