Getting so close...

Had our final check-up today and we're right on schedule! Had another ultrasound and more blood work done and everything is perfect. Our appointment took about an hour and a half because of the visit with Dr. Lee and then the long explanation of our IVF instruction sheet. There's so many medications that change on a daily basis...at least that's how it feels. But most importantly, our Egg Retrieval is scheduled for Monday afternoon...yay!!! So tonight my meds change completely. No more Menopur, Dexa or Ganirelix, but now I have to take 3 shots. :( At 1:30 a.m. I have to take 3 vials of Bravelle, an injection of Lupron (to reduce the risk of hyperstimulation) and an hCG injection (which basically helps release the eggs). Luckily two of the shots are in my bum tonight...my belly is getting really tender at this point. :P
Tomorrow Jim and I both have to start a round of Doxycycline for the next 7 days and then Monday is the big day. My eggs will go through Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI...injecting a single sperm into each egg) and we should know by Wednesday if my eggs are healthy or not. That's still my biggest fear at this point. If my eggs aren't healthy enough to accept the sperm and mature into an embryo, then we're out of luck and our journey with IVF and pregnancy is over. We're still hoping that we haven't gotten pregnant at this point simply because my eggs are too hard for the sperm to enter, but the fact that they just aren't healthy enough is still a big possibility. So for now I have to just go with the flow, have my eggs taken out and just pray that they are as healthy as they appear to be. If all goes well, then we go back on Thursday or Saturday to have 2 embryos transferred. The date is still up in the air because they have to watch the progress of the embryo growth and make sure they're healthy and ready to be transferred.
So that's the latest news! Now it's time to go have dinner, relax and wait for my late night shots. Thanks again for all of the well wishes and prayers, we truly appreciate them all! Hope everyone is doing well.
